DDC CONTROLS SOFTWARE/APPLICATION ENGINEER

Job Description:
Retrofit Service Company, an Energy Management and Integration company with offices in Rancho Cucamonga, California is seeking a motivated individual to become a valued member of our Team.

The Software Engineer will utilize programming tools, standards and procedures, and their knowledge of building systems and applications to develop program instructions for DDC controllers and front ends used on projects. Programming will include setup of user interface and/or browser based systems such as Niagara/Tridium. The Software Engineer will work with the Project Managers, Hardware Engineers, and Field Engineers assigned to a project to fulfill the project requirements. The ideal candidate must have a good working knowledge of the systems commonly monitored and controlled by a building DDC/EMS and be able to incorporate a sequence of operation in to a device and/or workstation application that meets all requirements.

Responsibilities:
Under minimal supervision, completes assigned projects, programming, and commissioning and project turnover per contract obligations.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

  • Assists personnel with solutions to systems problems, either troubleshooting
    the system or advising others on how to resolve problems.
  • Requires an understanding of core and third party DDC Control software
    and systems.
  • Assists in performing required commissioning documentation.
  • Provide accurate information for as-built documentation.
  • Adheres to safety standards and local and national codes, with a high degree of regard to
    employee and subcontractor safety.
  • Communicates with customer upon arrival and before leaving the work site.
  • Continuous proactive customer interactions including an in-depth understanding
    of customer(s) needs wants and systems currently in place.
  • Assists in monitoring project execution per plan.
  • Reports problems or changes to supervisor or management.
  • Completes paperwork and on site documentation as required.
  • Performs self-study (reading, research, and practice) to obtain technical
    proficiency on required products and application.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Electronics training/certification from a technical school or military electronics training desired. Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills to represent the company to customers and other outside contacts. Above average computer skills required.  Attention to detail.

 


 
 


DDC PROJECT MANAGER

Responsibilities:
The Project Manager is a critical and front line member of the construction department, with ultimate responsibility for the profitability of construction projects for Retrofit Service Company, Inc.

A self directed person, responsible for the profitable execution of assigned DDC Controls projects. Ensures that assigned projects are done accurately, on-time, billed, within budget and within scope of the contract.  Maintains positive cash flow. Actively pursues selling change orders. Ensures work performed is in compliance with state, local and Federal legal requirements. Ensures RSC, Inc. installers and subcontractors adhere to all safety standards.  Responsible for following consistent and repeatable project management procedures and processes. 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

  • Acts as the primary on-site leader for execution teams on assigned projects. Develops project schedules and executes according to plan for assigned projects.
  • Evaluates the contractual scope of work, field directives and / or scheduling changes. Actively pursues additional work through change orders.  Performs associated cost estimates, prepares proposals and negotiates final settlement price and customer acceptance.
  • Manages costs, billings and collections. Completes project billings in a timely and accurate format to the client. Maintains profitability goals and positive cash flow.
  • Reviews and interprets contract Terms and Conditions.
  • Analyzes financial reporting systems and project schedules to proactively address potential problems. Effectively communicates project progress, issues and financial status to management as required.
  • Manages risks and establishes project recovery plans when required.  Resolves disputes with minimal need for escalation.
  • Negotiates, prepares and issues subcontracts.
  • Oversees project construction for compliance with specifications, local codes and installation techniques.
  • Manages the selection, ordering, and delivery schedule of materials to be procured for the projects assigned. 
  • Develops and maintains viable long-term relationships with customers, consultants, prime contractors and subcontractors.  Attends job progress meetings as required.  Ensures subcontractors understand expectations of the project.
  • Coordinates with the Operations Manager and / or Service Manger for allocation of resources needed to meet project objectives. Ensures any engineering and commissioning performed by the field team is in accordance with established standards. 
  • Assists Operations Manager and / or Service Manger in project development efforts.
  • Coordinates customer-training requirements.
  • Work load includes multiple projects with a cumulative value ranging from $2.5 to $4.0 million.
